If you:

a) like being connected to nature

b) are interested in the world of bees

c) want to get to know them

d) seek food self-sufficiency

e) have no prior knowledge of beekeeping

f) have some knowledge and want to refresh it

g) want to put your knowledge into practice

h) want to join a group that lives in harmony with nature and the city

Then this is a course for you! Whether you are one or more of the above, this course is designed to get you familiar with bees and introduce you to the art of beekeeping so that after the course you will feel confident enough to start your own hives if desired.

This hybrid course is designed to combine the advantages of both distance and hands-on education, with the theory taking place online via zoom and the practical lessons live.

What to expect?

We will be studying the biology and behavior of the honeybee, its annual life cycle and development, the diseases and enemies of bees as well as ways to combat them. We will also study the Greek beekeeping flora, the types and characteristics of Greek honeys and other hive products, allergies, the beekeeper's pharmacy and Greek legislation.

You will receive in electronic format detailed notes from the courses and for the practical courses we will provide you with the necessary equipment.

Hands-on training in the use of a beekeeper's basic tools, hive inspection, seasonal beekeeping operations, equipment preparation and care, and creating nucleus hives from existing ones.

Theory: Every Wednesday from October 16th to December 4th, 18:00 – 19:30. Classes will be held online via zoom.
Practice: Every second Saturday from October 26 to December 7, 10:00 – 12:00 at our apiary in Zografou.
