Where you can find us

Where else in Athens could Astiki Melissa (meaning “Urban Bee”) be found if not in the neighborhood of Kypseli (meaning “Beehive”)? From July 2023 we opened in the Municipal Market of Kypseli, a shop dedicated to honey and other beekeeping products. Here you can find distinct varieties of Greek honey from small producers, nutritional suggestions for healthy snacks and unique gifts.

Just to mention a few, in our shop you will find honeys and honeydews from Pine, Fir, Thyme, Oregano, Orange blossom, Heather, Oak and Honeycomb honey. You will also find pollen, propolis tincture, royal jelly, beeswax cream and the homemade nut butters made from almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, cashews, pistachios, etc. And the list is constantly growing.

From spring of 2024 you will also be able to find our urban honey strands from various neighborhoods of Athens.

The workshop

Our beekeeping workshop is housed in a beautiful neoclassical building in Zografou. This is where all the necessary and invisible work needed to get the honey to our jar takes place. Cleaning and preparation of hives, storage and maintenance of combs, honey centrifugation and packaging, are just a small list.
If you want to help with our project, our beekeeper often needs a helping hand. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a volunteer with us or a trainee beekeeper.
